Watercolor Stain

water on the brain

Fragmented sentences rush through her mind

like gushing rapids or

waves in the ocean

at times as strong as a tsunami

The frontier man will never manipulate

but requires for its’ survival

Impossible to ever fully explore

Its’ depths unthinkable

its' necessity immeasurable

She lets herself go

salty, brown stained water runs over me.

Warm, sun-kissed water goes cold

like the remnants of melted, Arctic snow-caps.

She lets herself  drown

lungs fill with it all

No attempt to swim to the buoy

Succumbing to an inevitable end

Undone by what sustains humanity,

yet humanity will never understand
